Catching up

It's Feb. 21 and here are some of the things that have been happening:

H: I am two weeks behind, somehow. I don't know exactly how other than the general sloth of this group. They had to do nuclear over the break in order to start to catch up. I have to sacrifice interaction for time; I will tell them that just so that they understand what is going on.

First MOChem test resulted in about 8 perfect papers while there were almost as many 50s or 60s. Clearly, there is no hope for those. I expect them to leave after some bitching.

I have to write some brutal makeups for after the break for those who conveniently miss class every time there is a test. They will learn this time.

R: Must pick up the pace a bit and pare down what is taught. Keep using the orange book and supplement with the text manual.

A: remind them of the 75 days left; things are generally good with them, the last AP group that this sports-school will see, sadly.

AP KINETICS

MOST ARE NOT using the equations from class...they are doing things THEIR WAY and getting things wrong.
obviously not practicing....

MAIN POINT: when doing rate law mechanisms...you can't have something that is NOT in the NET EQUATION in your FINAL SUBSTITUTED RATE LAW!!!

just in case: never substitute a fast back to a slow step....the slow step is over, the reaction is over!

THEY ARE NOT DOING THE RATE OF RXN RELATIVE TO THE REACTANT DISAPPEARANCE RATE OR PRODUCT APPEARANCE RATE!!! BY USING THE SIMPLEST EQUATION EVER!! SHOW IT SCREAM IT AGAIN!!!
